Dr. Nathalie Goubet is interested in how early sensory events shape children’s perception and understanding of their environment. For example, her past studies have shown that familiar odors are soothing to newborns and that under certain circumstances, preschoolers will recognize food odors as easily as adults. Some of the issues she’s currently investigating are 1) the influence of the sense of smell on children’s perception of the world and 2) the interplay of emotion and cognition in guiding actions |
