HALE-BOPP PICTURES!

1) The image below of Comet Hale-Bopp 1995O1 was taken by Mark Astrom at the Gettysburg College Observatory, April 9, 1997, using a 200 mm f 5.6/ Nikkor Zoom lens and ASA 400 color print film. It's a 30 minute exposure. Both the faint blue plasma tail and the yellow dust tail are visible clearly, but be sure you have your screen set for the highest color rendition. Note the double trail of airplane wing lights at the left of the image. For information about obtaining an 8 x 10 print of this photo (the computer doesn't do it justice!) contact marschal@gettysburg.edu or Mark Astrom, s359644@gettysburg.edu.
