Research

Cognitive neuroscience is a rapidly developing field that uses a multidisciplinary approach to understand the neurobiological substrates of cognitive and sensory processes. The Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at Gettysburg College combines behavioral and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques in order to explore the neural basis of visual perception, selective attention, and object recognition. Current projects involve understanding how attention is allocated in different visual frames of reference and how objects are recognized from rotated or unusual perspectives.

Undergraduate student participation is essential to the success of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Students interested in learning more about cognitive neuroscience research are invited to become part of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory.  Opportunities are available for research assistantships, independent studies, as well as honor theses.  Please contact Dr. Wilson for more information.
