Since Gettysburg is a popular tourist spot in October, we advise making hotel/motel reservations soon. We have reserved a block of 25 rooms at the Best Western Gettysburg Hotel, and the Holiday Inn Gettysburg Battlefield is holding 45 rooms for those attending EC/ASECS. These hotels will release the rooms to the general public on September 26. For further information and suggestions, please see our web site: http://www.gettysburg.edu/~elambert.

College
Gettysburg College was chartered as Pennsylvania College in 1832. We continue to bemoan the fact that the College was not founded two years earlier in 1830, for then its origins would date from the long eighteenth century. The building pictured in the image above, Pennsylvania Hall, was indeed The College for a number of years in the nineteenth century, for within its walls were all the classrooms, the library, the faculty and administrative offices, and the dormitory rooms for students. Pennsylvania Hall still stands at the center of the campus. In 1921 the name Pennsylvania College was officially changed to Gettysburg College. During the 2006-2007 academic year Gettysburg College celebrates its 175th anniversary. The EC/ASECS Annual Meeting will be listed as a part of the official celebration.
