Playing with us:
Players of all skill levels are encouraged to come out.  Our team is Co-Ed and everyone gets plenty of playing time as long as they come out to practice.  Dues are $25 (low for any club sport) and get you a jersey, disc, and opportunities to play in PFF's tournaments throughout the year. Just come out to practice:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 4pm to 6pm
  • On the valley intramural field--at the north end of Washington Street (past Pizza House and the freshman dorms), near the tennis courts.

If you have any questions about practices, joining, etc., just send an e-mail to:

Playing against us:
If you're looking for some competition, we're always up for a friendly game or two (or 24, as the case may be).  First, take a look at our Events section to see if there's anything scheduled, and have your people contact our people through one of the following means, conveniently centered for your viewing pleasure:

funktourneys@gettysburg.edu
(If you have one of our older addresses, it will still work, but this is our latest.)
Tournament Contact: Check the Funksters page and look for who the Vice President is.

History

How old is the team?  Sometimes we feel like old men and women after long tournaments, but the team itself was founded in 1998.  By our math, that means we're in our eighth year.

Whose fault is it?  In an article written for the Gettysburgian, Gettysburg College's school newspaper, two of the team's founders, Andy Stephenson and Ryan Adams, confess:

...[T]he start of ultimate as a club sport is very similar to the start of the frisbee. On April 4th 1682, a Puritan in New England threw a pie pan at his child for not getting his Bible verses correct. The child, Sean Fleming, realized that this could be turned into something special and the destined pie pan became the infamous frisbee. Similarly, on April 2nd 1998, concussion struck again when a frisbee was thrown, hitting Andy Stephenson. From his deluded trance that followed, Andy decided to form an ultimate team.

Web Site

This Web site is the best I've ever seen.  Who made it?  Whopper and Flagger take both the credit and the blame for everything you see here at the moment; Whopper just graduated so he'll probably be heckling Flagger from the digital sidelines now. Heck, sometimes the site is even updated.  Flagger can be contacted at:
